DEDUCTABLE - This is the portion of the repair the insured must pay before the insurance kicks in. Originally the deductible was created to deter a client to not make a claim under
false or fraudulent circumstances. With home insurance some deductibles have risen so high that the
deductible is a factor in homeowners not being able to get needed work completed. We can Work

CLAIM - Calling your insurance provider and claiming there is damage to your home. Before opening
a claim it is wise to have a trained professional inspect the property to determine the full scope of
damage and determine if it is worth filing a claim. We offer Free, No Obligation, Inspections. Give us

ACV- Actual Cash Value- The value of the property damaged at time property was damaged. The
software used in insurance estimating will automatically "Depreciate" the property damaged based on
the insurance Adjusters' knowledge of the age of the property. The insured will then get a First check
awarded based on this value of the damaged property. This is so the insured can begin the restoration of the damaged property.

DEPRECIATION (RECOVERABLE)- Once the damaged property is repaired, most policies return
the depreciated amount of the damaged property in the form of a Second Check. Listed on the
insurance estimate as "recoverable depreciation". If the work is not completed the damaged property is
no longer insured as the insured was paid the Actual Cash Value for the damaged property in the first
check. Most policies state you have 180 days to complete repairs of damaged property to be able to
receive the "Recoverable Depreciation" held back. It is a " I owe you" from the insurance carrier.

Insurance Company - Adjusters Estimate - Insurance Companies will send out a company or free
lance adjuster to investigate the storm damage for your claim. It is best that you have your "Contractor
of Choice" present for this appointment. Your Contractor can save the adjuster, the contractor and you a lot of time by being able to point out all the damages found by your trained contractor and the
appropriate scope of work that will be required for your contractor to be able to restore your home or
business to "Pre Storm" condition. The Contractor is going to be very thorough in hopes of being able
to work for you to restore all the damaged property. The adjuster works for the insurance company and
is there to see that if there is damage to document it and to use the estimating software to write a
estimate so, the insurance company can award a check for damages as outlined above. We use the same estimating software as the insurance industry. Our prices won't be higher. However, if the insurance adjuster makes errors in selecting the appropriate items in the software that are relative to the damaged property then the differences could mean the insurance estimate is thousands less than the contractors' estimate. I have never seen a insurance provider over estimate and pay too much for damaged property. The errors always seem to benefit the insurance carrier and not the client. 

SUPPLEMENTS - A request to the insurance carrier for additional work or funds not listed on the
original estimate from the insurance estimate to be approved. Whether if be through discovery while
work is being completed or discovery after additional inspections. Supplements are allowed and are
often requested in insurance claims. A estimate is just that, an educated guess. Insurance adjusters often mis-coded items in the estimating software, leave items not seen on the home but, are required by
building code and even ignore minor damages for something other than damage caused by the storm.
These items will be noticed by your contractor of choice. They will supplement the insurance company
for approval on the items omitted and make any arguments that support why they should be allowed to
be restored under the policy as part of restoring the home to pre-storm condition. Example: Adjusters
will often dismiss a "ding" on the lowest to the ground panel of a garage door as "mechanical" as to
suggest anybody's foot could of hit the door and caused it. Well, if it wasn't noticed until after the
storm, it should be calculated with all the other collateral damages. That the "ding" is related to the
storm and should be repaired to restore the door to per-storm condition.
Supplements can be requested before, during and after the restoration process has been completed. It is important to have photos and any related documentation to support the claim of damaged property or scope of work required to repair damaged property.


GET 3 ESTIMATES - The insurance carrier provides you with an estimate of allowable damages and
suggests that you get 3 estimates for repair. They are asking you to "shop around" for them so they can pay the lowest price which normally means SACRIFICING in QUALITY! Your main concern should be to find the most qualified contractor with all credentials to protect you and give you the BEST QUALITY for your money.

They want you to think that the amount they provided is fair and everybody in
town will be willing to do the scope of work for the prices they are providing. This is where the stage of
the insurance claim process that starts the headaches and leads to about half the clients to give up and
just keep the first awarded check (ACV) and go shopping, pay bills or go on a vacation. 

First, the insurance estimating software was designed by the insurance industry. It is designed to be the
lowest prices settled on in your area. It is about 30% lower than normal retail prices that a company
usually charges. Unless you find a company that specializes in storm restoration and is familiar with
the insurance estimating software. All the estimates will be higher than the insurance estimate.
Especially when building code items are left off, wrong item codes used and you have a deductible you
are trying to be covered in there somehow. For your deductible to be covered IN the estimate, someone has to commit insurance fraud by handing in a estimate or receipt to the insurance company to receive the back end money due on the claim when repairs are made. The "Recoverable Depreciation".
Insurance fraud is a felony. Punishable with up to 5 years in jail. Again, we can, work around, most
deductibles. We have legal programs in place to assist you in the restoration of your home or business.
Second, you may have to call 10 contractors to get 3 to show up to give you a estimate. A complete
